Royal Family Reunion Alaskan Cruise!
Our family drove to Seattle after staying the night at our grandparent's house in
Yakima to board the Cruise Ship Norwegian Jewel.
It was really fun seeing everyone for the first time in 9 years.
The lines to get on the boat were really long.
Here is Shane with Deanne, Justin, Cassie and Erika getting ready to board ship.
Here we are onboard with Seattle in the background
that is cousin, elijah, on the right
Leaving Seattle!
The first day, we spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub.
Above is Cassie. Below is Justin hanging out in the pool.
That is Erika going down the slide.
We saw a couple of really good shows in the Stardust Theater.
There were acrobats, dancers, a great magician and a comedian.
Learning how to do the Thriller dance.
Cassie is in that group somewhere.
I'll bet the funnest thing about the whole cruise was
the girls for Jonathan and Garrett
Ping-pong was a close second.
Garrett and Jonathan played dodge ball and basketball on the outdoor sports court.
Some performers put on a circus show then let us try our hand.
It's a lot harder than it looks!!
We ate at one of the restaurants as a big group for dinner several nights.
The other nights, we ate at the buffet.
Every night we'd head to the buffet for some ice cream or the chocolate fountain.
We went to the fyzz lounge a lot to play cards and hang out.
Gma Sanna with Deanne and Cassie hanging out on deck.
It got pretty windy and cold at times.
Hanging out on deck
Justin, Elijah, and Evan loved playing shuffle board.
Deanne with her cousin, Samara
We all wore family reunion shirts that Megan designed.

KETCHIKAN
Here we are just getting off the boat in Ketchikan.
The tour bus that we went on had a really nice tour guide
who did a great job narrating everything. First we went to Potlatch park.
Shane's favorite part!
This is a blue whale skull
We saw lots of really cool totem poles at Potlatch Park.
That hole in the totem pole was the cabin's door.
This was inside
Next, we went on a short hike to the Totem pole village.
along the trail
examining the cool root structures
the trail ended at an open area with more totems and housing structures
we all headed down towards the water to explore
we found tons of baby crabs...they didn't taste so good
Cassie says:
We saw so many eagles! It was amazing. Until I went to Alaska, I didn't even know
that young eagles were splotchy until they grew to adulthood where they got their "bald" heads
These eagles were surrounding this cove we went to and when we walked down on the dock, I saw why.
There were tons of dead, rotting fish laying at the bottom. Some of the fish were huuuge!
I saw my first live jellyfish in that cove!
We went and saw a lumberjack show. One of the best parts was when two of the men
raced to the top of those two poles. It looked like it hurt coming down.
leaving port
SKAGWAY
We rented a van and explored skagway on a sunny but VERY cold and windy day.
below are some views along the way.
We went to what I think is the smallest town in Canada. It's called Carcross.
It was really windy by the lake as you can see by Cassie's hair!
We stopped and had lunch at this Sourdough bakery. It was really good.
We also stopped by the smallest desert in the world!
Sand angels
This is a picture Garrett took from the top of the hill
more scenery pictures along the way
On our way back, we saw a place where hundreds of people
had made these stacks of rocks.
We added 6 stacks. And boy was it freezing cold!
VICTORIA
Waiting for the group to assemble after disembarking
Garrett's first kiss! he seemed to enjoy it...
Megan enjoyed this a little too much.
we took a water taxi to downtown Victoria
The famous Empress hotel.
We walked to China town
We headed back to the ship for dinner.
playing at the rock beach before boarding the ship
JUNEAU
As a big group, we rented 3 taxis (2 boring vans and 1 cool roadmaster) and went to see some sights
the boring van
We went to a fish hatchery and saw hundreds of salmon swimming up the ladder.
The only bear we saw the whole time was outside the hatchery.
Here we are at Mendenhall Glacier
on the hike to the waterfall/glacier
jonathan, justin, grampa bob and cassie near the waterfall
next, we stopped off at the shrine
we all headed out to comb the beach
the Catholic shrine.
behind the shrine, we explored the rocks
Tracy Arm
After leaving Juneau, we sailed up the Tracy arm to see another glacier.
We all had so much fun! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!!!
